Acupuncture involves the insertion of needles into specific acupuncture points along the body’s meridians in order to release blocked qi (energy) in the body. This evokes the body’s natural healing response to restore functions to the organs and promote homeostasis. There is a strong body of evidence based research supporting the use of Acupuncture for aliments of the reproductive, nervous system, endocrine, immune systems, cardiovascular system, and digestive system.
How many treatments will i need?
The frequency and number of treatments differ from person to person. Some people experience dramatic relief in the first treatment. For severe, long-standing chronic conditions or complex cases one to two treatments per week for several months may be recommended.
Acupuncture can assist in fertility by regulating hormonal imbalances, optimising follicular development, promoting endometrial lining, increasing uterine, ovarian blood flow and preventing miscarriage. This takes time to achieve and for best outcomes you will need approximately 100 days (around 3 months) for preconception care. It takes approximately 100 days for both sperm and eggs to develop so this is the ideal time frame for preconception care. Your practitioner will work to normalise your cycle over this time as well as addressing underlying issues that may be compromising your fertility. Initially, weekly treatments will be needed to achieve best results.
